Solid-state LCD backlighting
Samsung Electro-Mechanics continues to expand its involvement in the LED backlight unit business. The company's diverse and innovative technology improvements can be applied to displays of all sizes, responding to the availability of ever-larger models as well as to steadily diversifying LCD applications. Samsung Electro-Mechanics' LED for lighting applications include white LEDs color with temperatures ranging from 2,000K to 15,000K and LEDs in the full color range (green, blue, red, and amber).

  LED-backlit LCDs lighten laptops
Available with screen diameters from 8.9 to 13.3 in., a family of TFT LCDs uses an LED backlight to provide a low-profile, lightweight, and efficient solution for slimmer laptops and other portable devices.

  Large TFT-LCDs target outdoor applications
Designed to operate 24 hours a day, a family of sunlight-readable 32- and 46-in. color TFT LCD modules is specifically designed for outdoor applications such as railway stations, airports, bus stations, theme parks, and shopping malls.

LCD delivers up to 114% NTSC gamut
Designed for color critical applications, desktop publishers, video and photography editors, and graphic designers, the XL20 20-in. LCD monitor uses an LED-driven backlight to provide an image with a color gamut up to 114% wider than the NTSC standard.

  LED-backlit LCD offers 400-nit image
Accepting input via a digital RGB 18-bit TTL interface, the LED-backlit OSD070TN84 color 7-in. TFT LCD has a brightness of 400 nits and a contrast ratio of 500:1.

  LED backlight kit includes power
Intended for use in LCD panels ranging in size from 6.4 to 20.1 in. diagonal, an edge-lighting LED backlight kit is a replacement for CCFL and other backlights.

  LED arrays fill LCD backlights
ntended for use in any LCD backlighting application, a family of LED arrays can provide display sizes from 5 to 19 in. with brightness levels as high as 1,300 nits.

Backlight driver comes with or without LEDs
Available in versions accepting an input from 5 to 48 Vdc, the SmartForce family of LED driver solutions for backlight applications is available as an LED driver board or a complete kit including driver board and LED rails.

Flexible panel delivers white light anywhere
Available in sheets up to 3 x 6 ft, the CeeLite 7501 illumination panel is presented as the first tough and flexible flat light emitter of its kind.

  Selecting an LCD backlight driver
Powering and packaging the high-voltage inverters that drive the CCFLs that backlight today's LCDs can be a challenge. When it comes to placement and interconnection, these inverters require a different thought process than a typical low-power converter.
